It might be August, but there’s still plenty of summer fun to be had.

Courtney Sheffer from the West Michigan Tourist Association has the details in this week’s What’s Happening in Northern Michigan.

Boyne City Pirate Festival

The Boyne City Pirate Festival just kicked off, and you can check it out through this Sunday in Boyne City. They’ll be crowning the PirateFest Queen tonight, and you can participate in the flotilla invasion tomorrow at Boyne City’s Sunset Park. You’ll also find live music, a pirate parade, costume contests, and lots of pirate-themed, family-friendly fun.

Bellaire Rubber Ducky Festival

We also have a fun festival that’s taking place in Bellaire this month! It’s their 34th Annual Rubber Ducky Festival, and downtown Bellaire will be full of duck-themed family fun! Check out the Paddle Antrim Ducky Paddle, the Community BBQ, a Grand Parade, and, the highlight of the festival: the Rubber Ducky Race. The festival kicks off Aug. 16, and runs through Aug. 21.

Classic Cars on Third Street

And last up, Marquette has their fifth annual “Classic Cars on Third Street” car show coming up on Saturday, Aug. 21. The car show will run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on North Third Street, between Michigan and Park Street. If you’d like to display your classic car at the show, you’ll need to enter before noon the day of the show. All proceeds from this year’s car show will benefit the Women’s Center of Marquette County.
