Just In: US Troops Sent To Help Evacuate US Embassy Staff In Afghanistan

A U.S. official announced on Thursday the United States is sending additional troops into Afghanistan to help evacuate personnel from the embassy in Kabul.

The Pentagon had kept about 650 troops in Afghanistan to support U.S. diplomatic security, including at the airport.

An additional number of troops, as well as aircraft, are being brought in to assist with the evacuation.

The Taliban have taken over 10 provincial capitals in Afghanistan over the last week.
