Senate Votes to Begin Debate On Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill

Debate on the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill can now begin.

17 Senate Republicans joined Democrats in voting to move forward last night.

The bill includes funding for physical infrastructure projects like roads and bridges, and $550 billion for other infrastructure like public transit, clean water and broadband.

President Biden says this is the largest infrastructure bill in a century.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer told lawmakers their August recess could be delayed, but it’s not yet clear when a final vote will happen.
