Summer camp is a great way for children to continue learning and make new friends!

is a non-profit camp program in Traverse City that provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy for children with special needs.

The camp provides fun, interactive activities that involve the three kinds of therapy. Natalie Ramsey is the Program Director and the Physical Therapist for the program. She was the one who brought the idea to life when she moved to the area and found that there weren’t many programs for children with special needs. Ramsey had been a part of the Kids On The Go program downstate prior and knew that this would benefit the community greatly.

This program has impacted the lives of over 3,000 children in Southeastern Michigan since 1999. Last year was when the program officially launched in Traverse City, but had to be virtual due to the pandemic. This year is really exciting because it’s in-person for the first time!

Led by professional therapists and volunteers, the children really get a lively and interactive experience using physical tools addressing communication, mobility, fine motor, and social skills through a variety of weekly themed therapeutic activities. Ramsey says, “It’s therapy in disguise!”

The program is such a success and will be continuing next year! The camp takes place at Immaculate Conception Elementary School in Traverse City.
