Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office Warns Michiganders Of New Scams
The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office is warning Michiganders of new scams.
The Sheriff’s Office says people have been contacted by scammers who are pretending to be from the Secretary of State.
Scammers claim victims need to buy cards from local stores and give them the card information so victims won’t be criminally charged.
Another scam involves scammers calling people and claiming they have rented a car in another state, and blood has been found in the car. Scammers tell victims they need to pay for the damages done to the car.
The Sheriff’s Office says if someone gets a call from anyone claiming to be from the Secretary of State or anything else that sounds suspicious, they should question who they are and not give out any personal information over the phone.
