See Fort Mackinac Keep History Alive & Watch A Vintage Baseball Game Live!
A national historic landmark, Fort Mackinac is located on Mackinac Island where the history is kept alive!
A place where you can get the real, live experience of what it was like back in the 1800’s, you can hear rifles firing, cannons blasting, and soldiers reenacting marches!
Tourists can visit the military outpost and 13 other historical structures and relive history! Here you can take tours exploring the army of the 1880’s, see how the fort has changed over time and also how the women have played a role on the site.
There are six active exhibits the public can experience including: Mackinac, An Island Famous in These Regions, Military Medicine at Mackinac: 1780-1895, Kids’ Quarters – reimagined for the 2021 season, Post Guardhouse, North Blockhouse, and Office.
And don’t forget to check out a Vintage Baseball game here on the oldest continually used ball field in the state of Michigan! You can watch players in old baseball uniforms play by old time rules, barehanded, like they did in the 1870’s! Since then, local residents and summer workers have played on this historic baseball field in the early 20th century, and boy and girl scout troops from across Michigan have played ball on the same field during the summer months.
