Hillsdale Man Found Guilty For Child Abuse, Multiple Charges
Emmet County Prosecuting Attorney James Linderman announced on Friday that Kip Alan Miller was found guilty on multiple charges.
Miller was found guilty in the 57th Circuit Court on the following:
- Four counts of child abuse – second degree;
- Two counts Police Officer – fleeing – third degree; and,
- Two counts Police Officer – assaulting/resisting/obstructing as a habitual offender second offense notice.
Miller will be sentenced in the 57th Circuit Court when a date is determined.
Last year Miller was arraigned in Antrim County after police say he attacked an officer, engaged in an eight hour armed standoff, and held four kids in his car the whole time.
It all started when Miller threw hot coffee at a Petoskey Police Officer’s face causing first degree burns.
Police chased Miller down US-131 to Mancelona where the standoff began.
Miller had several guns and four children in his car and would not get out of the vehicle or let the children out of the vehicle.
Michigan State Police called in a negotiator and the bomb squad to de-escalate the situation.
Around 5 p.m. the kids were rescued and Miller was taken to the Antrim County Jail.
