Big Rapids Looking To Buy Railroad Depot
Nearly 100 state owned properties are up for auction from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
And one of those properties is the Big Rapids Railroad Depot.
The DNR is auctioning off properties they currently manage and think would be better suited for private owners.
The depot was built in the 1880s on the Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad. But it sat empty and abandoned for the past several years.
While the auction is open to the public, the city hopes to buy the property to renovate the building and preserve a piece of history.
The auction will be held on August 25.
