Wellness for the Family: UV Safety

While we are all out enjoying that summer sun– we are also being exposed to UV rays.

Long exposure to UV rays is known to cause skin cancer.

is among the most common types of cancers and proper UV protection is vital in prevention.

The Center for Disease Control recommends these easy ways to protect your skin:

  • Stay in the shade.
  • Wear clothing that covers your arms and legs.
  • Wear a hat with a wide brim to shade your face, head, ears, and neck.
  • Wear sunglasses that wrap around and block both UVA and UVB rays.
  • Use a broad spectrum sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or higher.
