Delta Variant Identified In Grand Traverse County, GTCHD Now Offers Moderna Vaccine

The Grand Traverse County Health Department announced the county has their first case of the Delta (B.1.617.2.) variant.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services State Laboratory notified GTCHD when they identified the variant through routine lab surveillance of testing samples.

GTCHD continues to urge residents that are unvaccinated to get vaccinated to protect themselves and others around them.

The health department also announced they are now offering the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine at its Cherryland Center location.

The Cherryland Center is located at 1700 S. Garfield Ave. in Traverse City. Their hours for Covid-19 vaccinations are:

  • Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

No appointment is required.

“Offering all three vaccines is just another way we are adjusting to attempt to reach all that are seeking the vaccine, especially with the Delta variant circulating,” said Emergency Preparedness, Mike Lahey.
