US Postal Service Hiring in Traverse City Region
USPS Seeking to Fill 150 Open Positions
The post office in Traverse City held a roadside job fair on Thursday. They have 150 positions to fill, both part-time and full-time. They’re looking for mail carriers, mail handlers, drivers, and customer service positions.
Starting pay ranges from $16.87 per hour up to $18.49 per hour. And the postal service says it’s a career with upward mobility where you can try many different positions. Workforce Planning Specialist LeLonna Landis says, “You’re never stagnant. If you want to go to a different office, you want to go to a different position, you want to work in management. There’s always an option, there’s an avenue for every position you want.”
Postal Service Spokesperson Elizabeth Najduch says, “We have careers in almost any field you’d like. If you’d like to work outside as a carrier, if you’d like to work inside as a mail handler. We have positions and availability immediately.”
Employees have to go through a background check which may take approximately 30 days. Applicants should have a working email address. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, Thrift Savings Plan, Employee Assistance Plans, HAS, Child Care Savings, and more.
City Carrier positions start at $18.01 per hour, Rural Carriers – $19.06 per hour, Mail Handlers start at $16.87 per hour and Support Employees and Processing Clerks start at $18.49 an hour. The employee will be required to work Saturdays and weekdays as needed. May include Sundays and holidays.
To be considered for the positions, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or High School graduate.
- Must be US Citizen or have permanent resident alien status.
- Must pass a background check, drug test and pre-employment medical assessment.
