Rudyard Student Wins Short Story Writing Contest

There is nothing like sitting down and reading a good book or story. One Rudyard 6th grader is hoping her work gets more people reading.Annabell

Annabell Dankert loves to read, and she also loves to write. So much so that she wrote a story as part of a competition in the Dandelion Cottage Short Story Writing contest this past spring… and won!

The competition was open to U.P.. students.  Besides winning a medal, and $150, her story got published in the Annual U.P. Reader book.

On July 13, she read part of her story as part of the children’s summer reading program at the Rudyard Library.

“I came up with the idea after reading the 2nd Jeff Kinney Diary of an Awesome Friend book,” said Annabell.  “I get a lot of ideas after reading books.  All these ideas are swarming again at me so I combined them and put them on paper.”

“Annabell has always loved reading,” her mom mentioned.  “She will read all day if she can.  We tell her to go outside and she goes outside to read.  She is constantly reading all kinds of books and non-stop reading.”
