Biden Weighs Action Against Russian Hackers After Largest Global Cyberattack Ever
President Biden could soon take more action against groups responsible for ransomware attacks.
It comes after the latest and single biggest global attack on record targeting Kaseya on Monday.
That’s a Miami based IT software company.
Officials say the attack impacted hundreds of companies globally, including railways and a Swedish grocery store.
A Russia-based hacking group called “REvil” is responsible for the attack, initially demanding $70 million in ransom.
On Wednesday, Biden called top security officials into the situation room to discuss the recent cyberattacks.
He says the damage done in the Kaseya breach is minimal, but he has a wide range of options if he decides to take action against hacking groups.
