Plane Crashes In Lake Michigan Near Beaver Island

The Coast Guard in Charlevoix found and rescued the pilot of an airplane that crashed into Lake Michigan near Beaver Island on Saturday.

The District Nine Command Center received an electronic location transmitter alert off of Beaver Island.

The Coast Guard says when they arrived they found the plane partially submerged in water and the pilot sitting on top.

The pilot was the only occupant and went to the hospital for minor injuries.

The plane is still partially submerged and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
