Traverse City Elks Lodge Donates $4,200 To Grand Traverse Bay Area Disabled American Veterans

The Traverse City Elks Lodge showed their generosity Thursday towards those who served our country.

The generosity came in the form of a check for more than $4,200.

The Elks raised the money from the Lodge’s annual chili cook-off, and donated it to Grand Traverse Bay Area Disabled American Veterans.

The DAV helps veterans find a job, and provides free transportation to veterans throughout Michigan.

They say the past year has been tough because they haven’t been able to host fundraisers, but they’re beyond grateful for this gift.

“We just can’t express how important that is to the DAV and to the veterans in this area for that kind of local support,” said Bob Roelofs of Disabled American Veterans. “The outpouring from the Traverse City area is unbelievable. With everything kind of on the quiet, of course we didn’t spend as much money, so it’ll make a big difference.”

The money will go towards a new vehicle for the DAV.
