Ceasefire Between Israel & Hamas Uncertain As Violence Resumes

The ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas may no longer hold.

On Wednesday, Israel launched airstrikes in the Gaza strip, a Hamas stronghold.

Israeli military officials say it’s payback for Palestinian militants releasing balloons with explosives across the border, setting fire to dry fields.

Hamas says the explosive balloons were in response to Tuesday’s march of Jewish nationalists celebrating Israel’s capture of Jerusalem in 1967.

Wednesday’s airstrikes were the first since Israel’s new Prime Minister Naftali Bennett ousted Benjamin Netanyahu from power.
