PFAS Found In More Than 230 Makeup Products In US, Canada

Researchers say more than 230 makeup products sold in the U.S. and Canada have high levels of toxic chemicals.

A senior scientist at the Environmental Working Group says they have identified 13 different PFAS chemicals in more than 600 products from 80 brands.

The highest levels of PFAS markers were found in foundations, waterproof mascara, and long- lasting lipsticks.

PFAS have been linked to cancer, thyroid disease, liver damage, decreased infertility, and hormone disruption.

The EWG also said that 88% of the products failed to disclose their ingredients even though it’s required by the Food and Drug Administration.
