CDC Concerned About Rise of Delta COVID-19 Variant

The CDC is sending out a warning about the Delta COVID-19 variant first detected in India.

They are calling Delta a “variant of concern.” This means they believe the strain is more transmissible or can cause more severe disease.

The nation’s top infectious disease doctor, Anthony Fauci, says the Delta variant is in circulation in the U.S. at a similar rate to the tipping point seen in the United Kingdom.

The Delta variant is now the dominant strain in the U.K.
