Houghton Lake Man Sentenced For Child Sex Crimes

A Houghton Lake man will serve more than two decades in prison for child sex crimes.

Michael Clune plead guilty on April 27 to criminal sexual conduct third degree person 13-15; using a computer to commit a crime; accosting children for immoral purposes’ and habitual offender third offense.

Clune was sentenced Tuesday in a Clare County Court to serve 20 to 30 years; 12 to 20 years; and 5 to 8 years respectively with credit for 473 days already served. These sentences will run concurrently with one another and concurrently with his sentences from both Shiawassee and Roscommon counties. He was also ordered to pay $1,114 in associated costs.

Clune also faced child sex charges that involved multiple pre-teen boys in Roscommon and Shiawassee counties.

Clune plead guilty in both cases.

Clune was sentenced by Roscommon County Circuit Court Judge Robert W. Bennett on last week for the following charges, which will run concurrently:

  • Aggravated child sexually abusive activity; 145 months to 25 years with credit for 251 days served.
  • Using a computer to commit a felony; 140 months to 20 years with credit for 251 days served.

The sentences will also run concurrently with the felonies Clune faced in Shiawassee County, which he plead guilty to in March.

Clune was sentenced in April to 25-40 years in prison in that case.
