A 34-year-old man from Kincheloe was arraigned in the 91st District Court on Friday for multiple child sex crimes.

Eric John Chambers is facing charges such as:

  • Six counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct involving a child under 13-years-old.
  • One count first degree criminal sexual conduct involving a child between the age of 13 to 17-years-old;
  • One count second degree criminal sexual conduct involving a child between the age of 13 to 17-years-old, and;
  • One count child distribute, obscene material.

Last year the Kinross Police Department investigated a criminal sexual conduct complaint involving a child between the age of 13 and 17-years-old.

During the investigation the suspect fled the area and later resulted in a warrant for multiple felony charges.

In 2021 the Chippewa County Sheriff’s office investigated another incident involving another child under the age of 13-years-old.

That investigation resulted in another felony warrant for the suspect.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s office received information that the suspect in both cases was living in Colorado under a false name and had changed his appearance.

The sheriff’s office then drove to Colorado and picked up Chambers and brought him back to Michigan to face charges.

Chambers was given a $1 million bond with multiple restrictions.
