DNR Investigating Cause of Crawford County Wildfire

The Department of Natural Resources is investigating what started a 130-acre wildfire in Crawford County Wednesday.

The fire burned an area off of Wakely Bridge Road, south of Bucks East-West Truck Trail, which is the state’s land leased by Camp Grayling.

Camp Grayling used a helicopter for water drops and the U.S. Forest Service also proved a helicopter, as well as two water tanker aircrafts.

No structures were threatened and no evacuations occurred.

The DNR and Camp Grayling are expected to be mopping up for several days.

Camp Grayling is hosting training for National Guard units from Michigan and Illinois this week.
