The City of Harrison is welcoming some new additions that will help save taxpayers money.

Solar panels were installed in the field next to the city’s water tower.

Panels have already been installed by city hall, fire hall, and their lift station.

A total of 1,634 panels will provide 800 kW of power to the city.

The city estimates the panels will save taxpayers $130,000 to $160,000 in energy costs per year for the next 30 years.

Harrison City Manager and Clerk Tracey Connelly says these new additions are all part of their efforts to modernize the city.

“The city is forward thinking, we’re moving forward in trying to promote Harrison and be a better place to live, work, play,” said Connelly, “This was just the next step.”

The city has plans to install the last of their panels by their wastewater treatment plant later this summer.
