After a nearly three-day manhunt, a suspect in a weekend homicide and sexual assault in Mt. Pleasant turned himself in late Monday night.
Michigan State Police took 40-year-old Isaiah Gardenhire into custody without incident early Tuesday morning. Gardenhire had turned himself in to Flint Township Police late Monday evening before being turned over to state police.
State police say Gardenhire sexually assaulted a woman a stabbed a 13-year-old to death at a home just a half mile from the Michigan State Police Post in Mt. Pleasant early Sunday morning.
Gardenhire is set to be formally charged at 3 p.m. Tuesday. The Isabella County Prosecutor is expected to speak following that arraignment.
