The quick thinking of a detective for the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy saved a man’s life.

Detective Holly Pennoni was driving to work on May 18 along 33rd Road in Cadillac when she saw a car driving erratically.

Pennoni saw the car accelerating as it drove down into a ditch.

Using the emergency equipment she had on hand, she called 911 and rescued the man out of his car.

Come to find out, the man she saved was her neighbor that lives across the street from her.

Pennoni said her neighbors were grateful she was there to help.

“They said that they were fortunate to have me there,” said Pennoni. “I said, ‘Well it’s just the timing. It was good for being there at the right time.”

Pennoni said her neighbor is doing just fine and recovering at home.
