UPDATE (10:20 PM):

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says a fire in the Baldwin area has been put out.

They say the fire was in the vicinity of South James Road between 32nd Street and 24th Street.

Webber Fire Department was dispatched to put out the fire. Lake County Sheriff’s Office says Webber Fire, Pleasant Plains Fire, Yates Fire, DNR Fire, US Forest Service Fire, and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office all responded.

Officials say the fire continued to spread and approximately 32 homes were to be potentially impacted by the fire. They say Friday’s winds created more issues and the smoke and fire threatened the Lake County Animal Control building. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Management and Yates Dial-A-Ride evacuated all of the animals from the building.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says all units have cleared the scene.

UPDATE (6:02 PM): The Lake County Central Dispatch says residents no longer need to evacuate their homes as a fire burns in the Baldwin area.

They say the fire is partially contained.

Lake County Central Dispatch has reported a fire burning in the Baldwin Area.

They say the wildfire initiated on the 3000 block of South James Road, North of 32nd Street.

Officials are asking those living North of 32nd Street, South from 24th Street, West of Forman and East of James Street to evacuate their homes.

Currently, officials are asking residents to avoid the area.
