Man Arrested for Assault With A Dangerous Weapon in Antrim County

Michigan State Police and the Antrim County Sheriff’s Office say a man has been arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon.

On May 11, a trooper from the MSP Gaylord Post and deputies from the Antrim County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a homeowner shooting a gun in the direction of a township ordinance officer on East Old State Road in Jordan Township.

Antrim County Dispatch verified the identities of the homeowners and instructed them to walk outside with their hands visible once law enforcement arrived.

Officials say the homeowner with the gun was identified as 38-year-old Benjamin Misner.

The township ordinance officer said he was at the home taking pictures of ordinance violations from the roadway, when Misner and another person allegedly came outside and began arguing with him.

From there, Misner took the gun and began firing at the ground in the direction of the ordinance officer. The ordinance officer then fled and took shelter.

Misner was arrested and charged with one count assault with a dangerous weapon and one coup felony firearm. He was given a $50,000 PR bond.
