Portion Of M-185 On Mackinac Island Will Be Closed For Construction
A roughly two mile stretch of M-185 on Mackinac Island, from the Devil’s Kitchen area to British Landing, will be closed on Monday, May 17.
The highway was damaged after high water and erosion escalated in fall 2019 and winter 2020.
The section of road will be closed so crews can finishing paving and securing the stretch of roadway.
Barricades will be places at both ends and several large construction vehicles will be moving through the area.
Going around the barricade is dangerous and people found doing so will be subject to a ticket or fine.
MDOT is investing about $6 million to rebuild M-185.
Roughly four miles around the island was damaged during fall 2019 and winter 2020.
