A special summer camp is coming to Traverse City. Kids On The Go camp is a Michigan based pediatric non-profit program that will be providing physical, occupational, and speech therapy for children with special needs.

Kids On The Go has impacted the lives of over 3,000 children in Southeastern Michigan since 1999. The site in Traverse City will be the newest location for the organization, and they are super excited to give back to the community. The summer camp will be led by professional therapists, and assisted by volunteers to address communication, mobility, fine motor, and social skills through a variety of weekly themed therapeutic activities. They will be offering morning sessions for children ages 3-5 years from 9:30 am – 11:30 am and an afternoon session for children ages 6-8 years old from 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm.

I got a chance to speak to one of the physical therapists, Natalie Ramsey, who expresses her excitement about this project. “It’s therapy in disguise. Instead of the kids thinking that they’re going to therapy at a clinic, they feel like they’re at a camp. And they’re there with their friends, having fun.”

The camp will take place at Immaculate Conception Elementary School, located at 314 Vine St, Traverse City, MI 49684.
