A Manistee group is looking for the community’s help to finish off the school year right for kids in need.
is part of a national organization that packs food for kids in need on the weekends.
This year, the group served 104 K-8 students across all the schools in Manistee.
For their final backpack distribution, they’re looking for toothbrushes, full size toothpaste, and nonperishable food.
“I remember growing up when there wasn’t a lot of food in our family either,” said coordinator Sheryl Guenthardt. “It just makes me feel really good to do this.”
During the summer, the group helps out at Manistee High School’s drive thru meal program.
The last packing date for the 2020-2021 school year will be May 19. To make a donation, you can drop off items at Manistee United Methodist Church at 387 1st Street.
