Man Charged For Hijacking Bus in Kingsley

Michigan State Police say a man has been charged for hijacking a bus in Kingsley.

Police say 24-year-old Kyle Willobee boarded the bus at the Bay Area Transportation Authority bus stop in the parking lot of Northland Foods Grocery Store and attempted to take the fire extinguisher out of its holder.

The bus driver radioed for help and exited the bus after fearing Willobee would strike him or spray him with the fire extinguisher.

Willobee then stole the bus and attempted to turn East on M-113, but was struck by a Westbound car driven by a 29-year-old Manton woman.

Police say there were no passengers on the bus at the time of the collision. The Manton woman sustained minor injuries and is seeking medical treatment.

Willobee was uninjured in the crash and is charged on one count carjacking, one count assault with a dangerous weapon, one count reckless driving, and habitual offender third offense.
