Man Arrested After Police Chase in Grand Traverse County

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office says a man has been arrested after he led police on a chase Friday.

The Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was conducting a traffic stop around 1:20 a.m. on US-31 South near County Road 633 in Blair Township.

The deputy was walking back to his patrol vehicle, which had its emergency lights on, when a silver Ford F-150 traveling Eastbound at high speeds passed the deputy. The truck had not slowed down or used caution for the patrol vehicle.

The deputy quickly ended his traffic stop and was able to locate the truck that had passed him. From there, the deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the truck, but the driver did not slow or pull over.

Another deputy monitoring the incident was able to safely stop the truck by using stop sticks. The truck stopped in a parking lot on US-31 South in Blair Township North of Chums Corners.

A 34-year-old driver has been arrested for outstanding misdemeanor traffic offense and fleeing and eluding in the third degree.
