Michigan State Lawmaker Arrested For Drunk Driving

State Rep. Bryan Posthumus was arrested Friday after crashing his vehicle in Kent County.

According to the lawmaker’s office, Rep. Posthumus left his Oakfield Township in a Jeep, drifted off the road, hit a mailbox and rolled over.

Posthumus was taken to a hospital for evaluation and released.

His blood alcohol level was .13%, Michigan’s legal limit is .08%.

No one else was injured.

This isn’t Rep. Posthumus’s first time being arrested for drunk driving, he was previously arrested in January 2013.

The first-term Republican lawmaker apologized in a statement saying it is “clear” he has a drinking problem and needs help.

He said he’ll attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
