History of Hometown Heroes Expands its Latest Project in the E.U.P.
We first told you about the History of Hometown Heroes banner project back in 2018, an amazing effort to honor area veterans. It all started in downtown Sault Ste Marie. Since then, they’ve put up nearly 500 banners in cites around the Eastern Upper Peninsula.
The latest city to jump on board is St. Ignace in Mackinac County. Abby Baker is the founder, and she is working with local leaders and Native American tribes to honor those who have served, or currently serving our country and have roots in the area. 24 total banners will be displayed, and there are 15 more spots available.
Our Eastern U.P. photojournalist, Jim LeHocky caught up with Abby, and some locals who are excited about the expansion.
