Chauvin Murder Trial Closing Arguments Expected Monday

Closing arguments are expected to begin this morning in the murder trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin.

Minneapolis is on edge awaiting the verdict

The National Guard is stationed throughout the city and some businesses have already boarded up.

The jury heard from 45 witnesses over the last three weeks, ranging from people close to George Floyd to medical experts and police personal.

Chauvin in accused of killing Floyd during an arrest in May of 2020, where witnesses say Chauvin held his knee on Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes.

It’s an action the prosecution says caused Floyd’s death.

The jury will be sequestered after closing arguments for as long as it takes them to deliberate.

Chauvin could face up to 40-years in prison for his most serious charge, second degree murder.
