New Charlevoix Grant Program Looks to Beautify Area Behind Downtown Businesses

A new grant program in Charlevoix looks to spruce up the area, specifically behind the downtown shops.

The Downtown Development Authority is hoping these businesses will use this grant money to clean up behind their buildings. Their goal is to turn it into a more pedestrian friendly walkway.

They also want to incentivize these businesses to create a second entrance to their shops through the nearby alleyways. “Basically it expands where commerce can take place as well with expanding outdoor dining options and thing like that,” said Lindsey Dotson, director of the Charlevoix Downtown Development Authority.

The grant will cover 50 percent of expenses up to $5,000.
