Chauvin Defense Rests Case, Closing Arguments Expected Monday

Closing arguments in the Derek Chauvin murder trial are set for Monday.

The defense rested their case on Thursday.

Chauvin decided to invoke his 5th amendment and not testify in his own defense.

Also on Thursday, the prosecution recalled a medical expert to testify.

The expert said George Floyd had a maximum of 2% of carbon monoxide in his body.

This refuted the defense’s theory that exhaust from the police car next to Floyd led to possible carbon monoxide poisoning.

The judge says he plans to sequester the jury following closing arguments.

He told the jury they have as much time as they need to deliberate.
