Semi-Truck Driver Charged with OWI Following Rollover Crash in Chippewa County

A semi-truck driver is facing drunk driving charges after crashing his truck in Chippewa County.

Chippewa County deputies were called to southbound I-75 at the Mackinac Trail overpass just before 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Deputies found a semi-truck had driven into the median and rolled over, hitting the overpass and guardrail. Deputies say the truck was hauling rolls of steel that were thrown from the trailer.

The sheriff’s office says the driver, Mark Mott of Kincheloe, was showing signs of being drunk and failed a roadside sobriety test.

Mott was taken to the Chippewa County Correctional Facility.
