Cadillac Freedom Festival Canceled for 2021

For the second year in a row, downtown Cadillac won’t be hosting the Freedom Festival for Independence Day.

The organization recently announced that they will be cancelling the festival again this year.

Last year, the organization made the decision to cancel the festival due to the uncertainty of how long the pandemic would last.

Derek Andrews, president of the Cadillac Freedom Festival, says this years cancelation is due to lack of fundraising.

Normally, they would start raising money in January, however due to COVID-19 restrictions, that wasn’t able to happen.

Members of the board are planning to meet Thursday to see if they can still put on a firework show.
