Biden Wants Full Troop Withdrawal in Afghanistan by Sept. 11

President Biden has set a new deadline of Sept. 11 to withdraw troops from Afghanistan.

U.S. officials announced the decision to withdraw troops by the 20th anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks.

The original deadline for troop withdrawal had been set for May 1.

That date was agreed upon by former President Trump and the Taliban last year.

Biden has been signaling for weeks that withdrawing the remaining 2,500 troops by May 1 would be unlikely.
