Health Officials Report 8,867 New Coronavirus Cases, 74 Deaths
Michigan health officials are reporting 8,867 new coronavirus cases and 74 additional deaths.
The deaths announced Tuesday includes 37 deaths identified during a vital records review.
As of April 9, the cumulative total of recovered of COVID-19 cases in Michigan is 587,283.
On Tuesday, MIOSHA extended its emergency rules until Oct. 14, 2021.
“MIOSHA’s emergency rules help keep us all safe by ensuring that employers implement common sense safety standards to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace,” said Governor Gretchen Whitmer in a statement. “When employers maintain a safe workplace, that gives workers and consumers the confidence to keep our economy moving.”
