Former NFL Player Identified as Suspect in South Carolina Shooting that Killed 5
Police are trying to figure out what led a former NFL player to kill a doctor, his family and then turn the gun on himself in South Carolina.
Police were called to a home just south of Charlotte Wednesday evening.
Inside were the bodies of 70-year-old doctor Robert Lesslie, his wife of more than 40 years, and their nine and five-year-old grandchildren.
A man working at the home was found dead outside.
Police are still looking for a motive.
“There’s nothing about this right now that makes sense to any of us. If we can succeed in that, in answering some why questions it would certainly relieve the minds of the families,” said Sheriff Kevin R. Tolson.
Police have identified the shooter as 32-year-old Phillip Adams a former NFL player who played for a number of teams over his 5-year NFL career.
