Biden Takes Executive Action on Guns After Recent Shootings
President Biden is expected to announce his first measures to help curb gun violence on Thursday.
The executive actions will be designed to begin revamping federal gun policy.
They include calling on the Justice Department to try to limit the availability of ghost guns, weapons that can be assembled at home and have no serial number.
It also includes revising the federal government’s definition of a firearm and asking Congress to bring back the Federal Assault Weapons Ban.
Senate Democrats and Republicans both say they’re open to discussing gun laws.
President Biden is also expected to nominate David Chipman as the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Congress has not approved the nomination of a permanent ATF director since 2013.
