Cherry Capital Airport to Host Free COVID Testing for Travelers

Cherry Capital Airport Adds Nonstop Flight To Philadelphia International Airport

Air travelers in and out of northern Michigan will soon have an option for free COVID testing.

Cherry Capital airport is working with the state to offer free testing to passengers… on the airport’s busiest days. For now that will be Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays – starting this week. But as we get closer to summer they’ll increase their hours and build up to testing seven days a week.

Cherry Capital Airport Director Kevin Klein says, “Their main focus is on incoming travelers, coming in to Cherry Capital Airport. So once you come into the community you have been tested. Then you can use that information whether to return to work, whether to quarantine.”

“We’ll be the first airport under the Michigan Dept. of Health and Human Services program in the state, to participate. They’ll be growing that to other airports in the coming days.”

While the testing is aimed at inbound travelers, Klein says you can also ask to be tested if you have a departure from TVC. Testing is free and completely voluntary.
