Friday mandatory testing begins in Michigan for all student athletes.

It comes on a day a high school sports advocacy group and a group of parents sued the state over the testing mandate. Let Them Play Michigan sued along with three parents of young athletes. They call that order arbitrary.

Two weeks ago, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and health officials attributed part of Michigan’s surge to high school athletics.

The testing mandate covers athletes between the ages of 13 and 19.

Tests must be done once a week if a mask is required and three times a week if they do not wear a mask.
