Ludington Outdoor Social District Provides Open-Air Access to Restaurants & Bars

In March, the City of Ludington approved an outdoor social district for its downtown area.

Currently there are four businesses participating and three more are pending approval.

Patrons are able to purchase an alcoholic beverage from those businesses and drink it along the streets in the district.

The Ludington Outdoor Social District runs down parts of Ludington Ave., James Street and some side streets.

Beverages are served in recyclable cups that are labeled with a LOSD sticker.

With restaurants at limited capacity, wait times can be long.

City Manager Mitchell Foster says now “you can buy a drink and then wait outside. Maybe meander, look at some of the retail shops and come back when your seat is ready.”
