Michigan Tribes Receive Funds From Department of Housing and Urban Development
The Department of Housing and Urban Development is announcing $450 million in housing grants to Native American tribes across the country in response to the coronavirus.
This includes $10.2 million for Michigan tribes.
In Northern Michigan, a few tribes received funds from the grants.
Bay Mills Indian Community received over $526,000.
The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians received over $864,000.
The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians received over $201,000.
And the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians received over $413,000.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development says the funds will be used to help tribes carry out affordable housing activities to protect their safety and health of their tribe members and communities.
