Sault Area Middle School Expands their ‘Kidz Kloset’ for Students in Need

This past year has proved to be challenging for all of us in some way or form. Those who are less fortunate and have children in school could be challenged even more.Kidz Closet

This school year, Sault Area Middle School has really concentrated on helping those in need with expanding their ‘Kidz Kloset‘. 5th-grade through 8th-grade students can go into the room and get what they need with the help of a teacher or advisor. Middle school-age appropriate clothing, personal items, and food are readily available.

The need for food during this pandemic has been great. “With COVID-19, we have a greater need for food,” said Kidz Kloset coordinator, Erika Laitinen-Odbert. “We have always had a growing list of students that need food for weekend needs.  But this year, we have seen a growing need…. generally weekly…that our list continues to grow for needs for over the weekends for food.  We all know that our community is gracious and especially when it comes to kids.  We all want to give and make sure everybody has everything they could ever need.”

Donations are always welcome as the needs change. If you’d like more information about this great program, click here.
