Coronavirus Crisis: Analyzing Northern Michigan’s Numbers
You keep hearing that Michigan cases are soaring, but what does it look like in northern Michigan?
We have touchscreen technology to illustrate just that.
Right now, Michigan is averaging almost 3,500 new cases per day.
It’s the first time Michigan has averaged more than three-thousand cases since mid-January.
But northern Michigan’s population is much smaller.
You can see Wexford, Missaukee, Roscommon and Otsego Counties are all hot spots right now.
Actually, those four counties are among the 20 counties in the U.S. with the highest COVID-19 by population.
Overall, 17% of the people in our area are totally vaccinated.
26% of Grand Traverse County is vaccinated.
There are a lot of factors that play into why these numbers are the way they are.
We will keep an eye on this map and continue tracking how Michigan’s rates are trending.
