Case numbers in northern Michigan are on the rise – and Munson Healthcare is sharing those numbers in its weekly update.

Munson says both the percent positivity… and the number of hospitalizations… are up from last week. A week ago there were 29 inpatients in the Munson hospital system. As of Tuesday that number is up to 53 patients.

And the percent positive was at 5.2% a week ago. Dr. Christine Nefcy is Munson Healthcare’s Chief Medical Officer. She says, “I’ve been reporting over the past couple of weeks a slow increase. I’m sorry to report that increase has gone up, and continues to rise a little bit more steeply… I think the important numbers are our percent positive which is up to 7.3%.”

Munson says people should continue to wear masks and social distance – and get their vaccine as soon as possible.

Between Munson employee and patient vaccine clinics, primary care offices, and partnerships with health departments, Munson has now provided more than 50,000 doses of vaccine.
