Nonprofit Angels of Action Uses Slow Cooker Program to Help Combat Childhood Hunger

In 2011, Angels of Action was founded with the goal of making a difference in the lives of children in Mecosta and Osceola counties.Crock Pot

Since they have continues to do that through their 9 different, and creative programs, including their Rock the Crock program.

Angels of Action teamed up with Great Start Collaborative, Manna Pantry, and Spectrum Health to make Rock the Crock program happen.

Participating families are given a brand new crockpot, cooking utensils, and a recipe binder to start the program. Then, each week volunteers deliver ingredients and recipes to families across Mecosta and Osceola counties.

The idea is for the family to make each meal together. That creates family time while also teaching the children valuable skills like how to cook and practice reading.
